Hello everyone, I am Sharon!
I developed my coordination and management skills working for 30 years as a Locality Care Manager in Adult Social Care. Through this role I provided front-line management for the local council’s residential units, ensuring we delivered a high standard of quality service. I was also responsible for ensuring we complied with CQC legislations, maintained strong and positive relationships with all stakeholders but most importantly made sure that the residential unit was somewhere people affected by complex mental health needs and disabilities would choose to live. Many of my skills and experience from working in adult social care have strengthened my role as programmes coordinator as well as releasing my creativity, something that I felt was missing in my previous role. As programmes coordinator I ensure that a child-centred and consistent approach to programme quality is always demonstrated by working with multiple professionals to ensure the child’s voice is captured and at the heart of every decision we make. It is my role to ensure staff maintain an up-to-date awareness of evolving changes to domestic abuse legislation by ensuring they fulfil their mandatory training. I work closely with Ellie on programmes development and assist on grant applications providing qualitative and quantitative data that I have collected as part of my role. Although I don’t work directly with children, it is my role to ensure their voices are captured in evaluations to measure our impact and ensure these shapes our practice.
I cannot begin to express in words how dedicated I am to EdShift’s mission. I believe children and young people are the voice of the next generation and it is up to us as professionals to find innovative ways to support them to overcome their trauma and improve their life chances.
